Indie Brighton

Does anyone use listings any more? The hope is yes, as I’m setting up a weekly one for Brighton via my newsletter.

I’m probably showing my age, but I still love reading about what’s coming up at any given location.

Facebook events killed off a lot of the listings sites. The ones that remain are generally pretty grim: SEO-gaming nonsense sites designed to make a quick, shit buck.

Meanwhile, the official Visit Brighton page is mainly set up for tourists, unless porcelain penis painting or boozy pub crawls is your thing.

Honestly, even if just myself and a dozen people find it a useful resource, I’ll keep it up. It’s nice to remember that there are things going on out there. It stops the walls from closing in.

You’ll notice I’ve cheekily plugged my own gig on Sunday amid the listings. But I’m not Grant Shapps / Michael Green. I’m not making any money off it. So you know I’m only going to send you to lovely things.

If any of the things I recommend are NOT lovely, please do complain vis the usual address.
