We’ve done a video sketch! It was recorded while I was away with Yorkist cats, written by Jamie, filmed, produced and edited by Alex, and stars Greg, Dan, Jamie and Naomi.

I had nothing to do with it whatsoever, but I’m sharing it anyway, because everyone did a brilliant job and – excitingly – we have more filmed sketches to come.
I’ve always been a little bit cautious about filming too much “content” as Next Level Sketch.
Partly this is due to a fear of becoming a slave to the disturbing social media algorithms – Jen Ives writes eloquently about this – but also just ‘cos of a personal presence for live comedy, and the danger of losing that magic in the eternal chase for eyeballs.

But I think this is a nice balance. The lads have recorded the sketches extremely professionally. The acting is excellent, from Greg’s everyman chimp to Naomi’s furious lecturer, all paper flourishes and deliciously precise pronunciations of disappointing towns.
We’re not going to submit to the daily churn of to-camera bits. But we will have a think about which of our sketches perhaps lend themselves to this medium in particular, and hopefully do some more filming later in the summer.
