Recording Artiste

As of today, I’m a professional musician.

Strange thing to write, but true. In the morning I will invoice for my services as 1 x folk singer (tenor).

What the song is, and how it sounds, I’ll save writing about until we have a release date. But my huge thanks to Jo for giving me the opportunity to sing such a beautiful arrangement with such amazing singers – Jo herself, of course, but also Ben, Eva, and Saoirse.

Who knows if we’ll ever sing just us five again, but I enjoyed our rehearsals and time together.

We recorded utterly a Capella, without even a click track, as this song has its own, living rhythms. Singing in harmony alongside four other parts is the closest I’ve ever come to flying. When it works, it’s as good as the wind in your hair on a downhill cycle to the sea.

Big thanks also to Sarah at Small Pond recording studio, our fine young engineer, who set us up beautifully and felt goosebumps from the control room.

I’ll let y’all know when the song comes out, and if we ever get to the point of performing it live.
